Endorsement Statement

Greg Verga’s Statement on his Endorsement by the Massachusetts Nurses Association:

I am both humbled and excited to receive a formal campaign endorsement from the Massachusetts Nurses Association (MNA). My wife, Kellie, and my daughter, Abbie, are RNs, so I, like those many family members across the state with a loved one working in the field, have a personal grasp of the demands that healthcare workers face, the sacrifices they make and the selfless nature of our caregivers.

Since its founding in 1903, the MNA has been the most powerful and effective voice for nursing and healthcare in the Commonwealth. Today, it is the largest union and professional association of registered nurses and health professionals in the state, and the third largest in the nation. It represents more than 23,000 members working in 85 healthcare facilities, including 51 acute-care hospitals, as well as a growing number of nurses and health professionals working in schools, visiting nurse associations, public health departments and state agencies.

If this pandemic has taught us anything, it has profoundly underscored the role of caregivers and the debt of gratitude we owe them. I thank MNA President Katie Murphy, RN for her kind words in endorsing my campaign ...

“The Massachusetts Nurses Association is proud to endorse Greg Verga for Mayor of Gloucester. Nurses and healthcare professionals have worked hard to protect our communities throughout this pandemic. We need local leaders who will work just as hard to protect and support healthcare providers and public health. Greg understands how to work with the various stakeholders and take a collaborative approach to ensure we keep Gloucester healthy and maintain safe and fair working conditions for all providers across the city.”
