Endorsement Statement

I have had the privilege of working with or knowing personally the last six mayors of Gloucester. I can say without reservation that Mayor Greg Verga stands out among them as a highly qualified leader and someone more than worthy of re-election to the office. 

In Gloucester, the mayor runs a $120 million-per-year operation with several thousand employees who work across an extremely wide range of tasks. The mayor needs to manage this enterprise. The mayor must lead, implement, and make many decisions that carry major consequences every day.  It is no simple feat.  

Mayor Verga has shown himself to be a capable leader who knows how to find and retain talented staff who work with him as a team to help Gloucester move forward and prosper.  I have seen Mayor Verga dig into and seek to understand issues such as intermittent high bacteria levels at Good Harbor Creek beach and the many public works projects which are being undertaken throughout the year. 

I have worked closely with several senior staff members in the city who he has selected for key positions and found them to be extremely capable and competent - to me another indicator of a good mayor. 

Your vote for Greg Verga on November 7 is a vote for good, solid management and the continued advancement of the City of Gloucester.
